DreamWorks Animation and Pearl Studio's co-production Abominable takes audiences on an epic 2,000-mile adventure from the streets of Shanghai to the breathtaking Himalayan snowscapes. When teenage Yi (Chloe Bennet, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) encounters a young Yeti on the roof of her apartment building in Shanghai, she and her mischievous friends, Jin (Tenzing Norgay Trainor) and Peng (Albert Tsai), name him "Everest" and embark on an epic quest to reunite the magical creature with his family at the highest point on Earth. But the trio of friends will have to stay one step ahead of Burnish (Eddie Izzard), a wealthy man intent on capturing a Yeti, and zoologist Dr. Zara (Sarah Paulson) to help Everest get home. Abominable is written and directed by Jill Culton (Open Season, Monsters, Inc., Toy Story 2) and is produced by Suzanne Buirgy (Kung Fu Panda 2, Home). Peilin Chou of Pearl Studio also produces. The film is executive produced by Tim Johnson (Over the Hedge, Home, ANTZ), Frank Zhu (Checked In, Lotus Code) and Li Ruigang (Kung Fu Panda 3, The Taking of Tiger Mountain) and is co-directed by Todd Wilderman (Trolls, The Croods).

Purbeck Shorts Evening - International Short Film Competition 2019
KINDLY SPONSORED BY NFU MUTUAL WESSEX

One of our main aims is to offer a prominent showcase for the work of talented new directors from all over the world.

For the 8th year running we are holding our Short Film Competition (for films of 10 minutes or less).

Prizes are awarded both by the audience and by the judges who come from local film schools, the BFI or the media industry.

This exciting, interactive evening is a firm favourite with audiences, who get a chance to debate what makes a good film.

REX IN THE PARK - A HUGE THANK YOU TO SAINSBURY'S

Sainsbury's are supporting the Rex to help raise funds for the refurbishment of the cinema toilets and bar, in order that we can provide to our customers an accessible ramp and accessible toilets - a much needed change for our community cinema.

We are privileged that for 150 days Sainsbury's are supporting The Rex as part of their amazing 150th Birthday Celebrations which will make a huge difference to us and help us to achieve our goal.

The screening at the Priory was a great success with an appreciative audience, in a stunning setting, with traditional deckchairs, retro sweets and delicious hot chocolate with marsh mallows!  What more could anyone wish for!

The team worked tirelessly throughout the day to make the event a huge success. We are most grateful and will be announcing the results of our collaboration in due course.

THANK YOU VERY MUCH TO SAINSBURY'S FROM THE ENTIRE REX TEAM.
