We're delighted to once again be screening films as part of the Purbeck Film Festival.

This British-Nordic drama is a taut, tight psychological thriller about social facades and the limits of resilience. It stars Mirja Turestedt as Maria, a famous TV presenter whose sterile, ordered life tips into chaos after a confrontation with her husband, who is accused of sexual impropriety. She becomes physically and mentally unstuck as she travels to a remote English cottage alone to escape. A film that echoes classics by Bergman, Antonioni and Akerman about women cracking under societal pressure, this is anchored by an outstanding central performance by Turestedt and the film has an emotional veracity that will keep you riveted. Based on the book The Living and the Dead in Winsford by bestselling Swedish author Håkan Nesser which won the Rosenkrantz Award for Best Thriller of the Year.
